Case Study: St Lukes Hospital, London
Founded in 1984, St. Lukes Hospitals offers free treatment to Anglican clergy and some outsourced private treatment. Supported and visited throughout its life by members of the Royal family, it was re-opened in 1994 by Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke
of Edinburgh after extensive modernisation.
2007 has seen the hospital being given a complete refit with the redesign and refurbishment of the operating theatre, consulting rooms, wards and ancillary areas. Concord:marlin was approached by consultants Fowler Martin to provide high quality lighting solutions that were in keeping with the new style of the hospital, which is often used as a base for a number of Harley Street consultants.
Bespoke bedhead fittings and specialist opal glass luminaires were used throughout the site whilst the nurses stations required a recessed fluorescent fitting that would provide both a well lit space, be pleasing to the eye. and look less conventional than those usually associated with hospitals.
The original fitting selected for the nurses stations, although more aesthetically pleasing than a conventional 600x600, was deemed not suitable at a late stage in the project. The launch of Officelyte around this time provided an ideal alternative solution and Concord:marlin was able to prevent any further delays by quickly suppling these new fittings to meet their requirements.
